Numerous governmental and non-governmental bodies offer free legal aid to new immigrants, in various fields: women’s rights, workers’ rights, children’s rights, and more.

| Emergency financial assistance |
Immigrants who are experiencing economic difficulties and who have already used up all their rights for financial assistance, are eligible for a special one-time grant from the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption. The grant is given to immigrants who came to Israel since 1990.
As of November 2006, the grant sum is NIS 2500. It can be used for one of the following:
 Housing in a hostel for up to one month
Special medial expenses or purchase of medical equipment
Urgent dental care for children
Living expenses for up to one month
Purchase of essential household equipment, basic food, and children’s clothing
Special assistance for immigrants who have experienced a tragedy
The grant is not given directly to the immigrant, but rather paid to the service agency or provider.

The Ministry of Social Affairs provides support, consulting, mediation services, and special programs for immigrant families, youth, employment seekers and senior citizens, through community work in Social Services departments across Israel.
